Heteranthera zosterifolia, commonly known as Star Grass, is a striking stem plant with bright green, lance-shaped leaves. Native to the stagnant waters and swampy regions of Brazil, this plant thrives in nutrient-rich environments. Its vibrant color and dense growth make it a popular choice in aquascaping, adding contrast to foreground, midground, or background sections depending on trimming height.

Highly valued in the planted aquarium hobby, H. zosterifolia is also an excellent water quality indicator. A nitrogen deficiency (NO3) causes its leaves to turn transparent and wither, while a lack of phosphorus (PO4) results in darker, less vibrant foliage. This adaptability makes it a great plant for both beginner and advanced aquarists looking to maintain balanced tank conditions.

While Heteranthera zosterifolia can grow well in medium to high lighting without CO2 supplementation, it reaches its full potential with added CO2, producing lush, fast growth and broader leaves. When allowed to emerge above the water’s surface, it often develops delicate blue flowers, adding even more visual appeal. With its versatility and ease of care, this plant is a fantastic addition to both high-tech and low-tech aquariums.

Once the carrier receives your order, they will reach out to arrange a delivery time. An individual aged 18 or older must be present to sign for the delivery.
• You may return or exchange an unused or unopened item for a refund (excluding shipping and handling charges) within 30 days of purchase. Following 30 days, the item may be returned in exchange for a store credit. Used chemicals and fish food are not returnable. In addition, all sales on Japanese Koi are final and non-refundable.
