Salvinia natans, also known as Floating Fern, Floating Watermoss, or Water Butterfly Wings, is a unique, free-floating aquatic fern that thrives in freshwater environments. Unlike many floating plants, Salvinia lacks long trailing roots, making it a cleaner, low-maintenance choice for aquariums and ponds. Native to regions with warm, humid climates, this plant is particularly widespread in Africa, Asia, and Central Europe, where it flourishes in calm waters with ample sunlight.

Featuring small, oval-shaped leaves that rest on the water’s surface, Salvinia natans stays buoyant thanks to specialized air pockets within its foliage. A third, submerged leaf functions like a root, absorbing nutrients directly from the water. Its dense leaf coverage helps block excess light, making it a great natural tool for reducing algae growth while providing shelter for fish and shrimp. • Koi Fish only ship Monday- Wednesday. For orders placed after 3pm on Wednesday, the order will be shipped the following Monday.
• For Motor Freight (LTL) Shipments, oversized or heavy items unsuitable for traditional parcel delivery will be dispatched through a motor freight carrier, as indicated on the product page. Once the carrier receives your order, they will reach out to arrange a delivery time. An individual aged 18 or older must be present to sign for the delivery.
• You may return or exchange an unused or unopened item for a refund (excluding shipping and handling charges) within 30 days of purchase. Following 30 days, the item may be returned in exchange for a store credit. Used chemicals and fish food are not returnable. In addition, all sales on Japanese Koi are final and non-refundable.
