How It Works

Microbe-Lift Barley Straw Pellets Plus mimics the natural decomposition process of barley straw, but at an accelerated rate. As the pellets break down, they release natural compounds that react with sunlight and humic acids to generate hydrogen peroxide, a natural oxidizing agent that helps keep water clear. Additionally, the humic acid binds to heavy metals such as copper and arsenic, improving overall water quality.

This formula is rich in organic peat, which helps soften pond water, reduce nitrate and phosphate levels, and create a more balanced aquatic ecosystem. While the pellets may leave a light organic residue at the bottom of the pond, beneficial bacteria—such as those in Microbe-Lift Sludge Away—will naturally break down and digest any leftover material.

Note: Fish will not eat barley pellets, as they contain no food value.

• Free Shipping is valid for orders with a subtotal exceeding $199 and all orders will be shipped via UPS. Items purchased for delivery after 3pm will ship the following day. Items purchased for delivery after 3pm on Friday will ship Monday.
• Koi Fish only ship Monday- Wednesday. For orders placed after 3pm on Wednesday, the order will be shipped the following Monday.
• For Motor Freight (LTL) Shipments, oversized or heavy items unsuitable for traditional parcel delivery will be dispatched through a motor freight carrier, as indicated on the product page. Once the carrier receives your order, they will reach out to arrange a delivery time. An individual aged 18 or older must be present to sign for the delivery.
• You may return or exchange an unused or unopened item for a refund (excluding shipping and handling charges) within 30 days of purchase. Following 30 days, the item may be returned in exchange for a store credit. Used chemicals and fish food are not returnable. In addition, all sales on Japanese Koi are final and non-refundable.
