Tancho koi are admired for their distinct single red (Hi) marking on the head, making them one of the most sought-after koi varieties. The name "Tancho" comes before the variety, leading to names like Tancho Kohaku, Tancho Sanke, and Tancho Showa. Traditionally, the term refers to a perfect red circle, but it is now commonly used to describe any prominent head marking, even in other varieties like Tancho Ochiba, which has a brown spot.

Kohaku, with its bright white (Shiro) body and bold red (Hi) patterns, is considered one of the most iconic koi varieties. The most expensive koi ever sold was a Kohaku, reaching an incredible $1.7 million! As a key member of the Gosanke group, alongside Sanke and Showa, the Tancho Kohaku is a must-have for serious collectors and enthusiasts.

Before shipping, all koi go through a four-week quarantine period, where we perform detailed health screenings, including slime coat swipes and parasite checks. Any necessary treatments are provided to ensure each fish arrives in top condition.

• Free Shipping is valid for orders with a subtotal exceeding $199 and all orders will be shipped via UPS. Items purchased for delivery after 3pm will ship the following day. Items purchased for delivery after 3pm on Friday will ship Monday.
• Koi Fish only ship Monday- Wednesday. For orders placed after 3pm on Wednesday, the order will be shipped the following Monday.
• For Motor Freight (LTL) Shipments, oversized or heavy items unsuitable for traditional parcel delivery will be dispatched through a motor freight carrier, as indicated on the product page. Once the carrier receives your order, they will reach out to arrange a delivery time. An individual aged 18 or older must be present to sign for the delivery.
• You may return or exchange an unused or unopened item for a refund (excluding shipping and handling charges) within 30 days of purchase. Following 30 days, the item may be returned in exchange for a store credit. Used chemicals and fish food are not returnable. In addition, all sales on Japanese Koi are final and non-refundable.
