Bamboo Japan

Doitsu Shiro Bekko Koi features the striking two-tone look of the classic Shiro Bekko, paired with a smooth, scaleless body typical of the Doitsu lineage. With a bright white base and crisp black sumi markings, these koi offer sharp contrast. The term “Doitsu” refers to their reduced scale pattern, usually limited to a single row along the dorsal line and possibly lateral rows, giving the fish a sleek, almost painted appearance.

At Fitz’s Fish Ponds, we select Doitsu Shiro Bekko koi for clean white skin, bold sumi, and smooth, symmetrical form. This variety delivers timeless contrast in a refined and modern presentation. Explore our collection below and find a koi that’s classic yet different to add to your pond today!

What is a Doitsu Shiro Bekko koi? The smooth white koi with bold black patterning.

Doitsu Shiro Bekko are koi with a clean white body, distinctive black sumi markings, and a Doitsu scale pattern—meaning minimal or no body scales. The look is bold, simple, and highly elegant.

What makes Doitsu Shiro Bekko koi visually unique? High contrast on a smooth, scaleless canvas.

They’re easy to care for and forgiving to new keepers. Their minimal color palette and clean look make spotting health issues simple.

Do Doitsu Shiro Bekko koi get along with other koi? Peaceful personality with eye-catching contrast.

+

They mix well in groups and add striking visual contrast when paired with colorful or metallic koi.

What should I feed my Doitsu Shiro Bekko koi? Clean nutrition for clean color.

+

Use a balanced koi pellet without red-enhancing ingredients to maintain a bright white base and crisp sumi.

How should I care for Doitsu Shiro Bekko koi during winter? Cold-hardy with clean design year-round.

+

They overwinter well in aerated, deep ponds. Keeping water quality stable helps preserve the sharpness of their black-and-white contrast.

Can Doitsu Shiro Bekko koi live in small ponds? They adapt, but grow best in open space.

+

They do well when small in limited space, but will display best color, growth, and movement in larger ponds.

Are Doitsu Shiro Bekko koi considered rare? Less common than standard Shiro Bekko.

While not extremely rare, quality Doitsu Shiro Bekko with balanced sumi and clean white skin are more limited and prized by koi collectors.

Why should I buy Doitsu Shiro Bekko koi from Fitz’s Fish Ponds? Smooth-skinned contrast koi, selected for clarity and symmetry.

+

We choose Doitsu Shiro Bekko for their crisp sumi placement, clean white tone, and elegant Doitsu finish. Each one is chosen to enhance both traditional and modern koi ponds.
