Thousands of New Koi Arrive at the FFP Farm – Our Second Massive Shipment of the Year!

January 16th marked an exciting day at Fitz’s Fish Ponds as we received our second major koi shipment of the year! Despite the frigid 25-degree weather and even some snowfall, our dedicated team worked tirelessly to transport and safely acclimate 162 boxes of stunning koi straight from Japan to our farm.

Cold weather helps keep the fish less active, which means they consume less oxygen and produce less waste during transport. This makes for a smoother transition and ensures that the koi arrive in excellent condition.
A Well-Oiled Process: Behind the Scenes of Koi Shipment Day
Our team at FFP has koi shipments down to a science! With a crew of eight at JFK Airport, we efficiently transported 162 boxes of koi back to our farm in record time. Every koi shipment requires meticulous planning, and we use detailed spreadsheets to track breeder information, box numbers, and placement. Each team member has a designated role, making for a seamless unboxing process.
