Ludwigia ovalis hails from East Asia and is known for its ease of cultivation. In its natural habitat, this plant thrives in cooler waters and moist soils, making it a resilient choice for aquarists. With its low-growing stature and roundish to ovate leaves, L. ovalis shares similarities with Ludwigia repens but is distinguished by its alternate leaf arrangement—one leaf per node—setting it apart from most Ludwigia species that typically have opposite leaves.

This upright stem plant grows at a slight angle and regularly produces lateral shoots, contributing to its bushy appearance. For optimal growth, L. ovalis requires moderate to strong lighting, which enhances its vibrant orange and pink leaf coloration. While CO2 injection is not essential, it can promote faster and more robust growth. Ensuring a good supply of micronutrients and iron is crucial for maintaining its striking colors. Reducing nitrate and phosphate levels in the water can further intensify the hue of the leaves.

L. ovalis is a highly attractive addition to any aquascape, particularly in the middle or foreground, where its low-growing stems can shine. Unlike many other pink and orange plants, it is less demanding, making it suitable for various aquarium setups. Pairing L. ovalis with light green plants in the background creates a beautiful contrast, enhancing the overall aesthetic of your aquatic landscape. Propagation is straightforward—simply cut and replant lateral or top shoots in the substrate to encourage new growth.

• For Motor Freight (LTL) Shipments, oversized or heavy items unsuitable for traditional parcel delivery will be dispatched through a motor freight carrier, as indicated on the product page. Once the carrier receives your order, they will reach out to arrange a delivery time. An individual aged 18 or older must be present to sign for the delivery.
• You may return or exchange an unused or unopened item for a refund (excluding shipping and handling charges) within 30 days of purchase. Following 30 days, the item may be returned in exchange for a store credit. Used chemicals and fish food are not returnable. In addition, all sales on Japanese Koi are final and non-refundable.
