James “Pond” Honan has been a driving force at Fitz’s Fish Ponds since 2015. As construction manager, he leads the crew behind every pond build, guiding each project from blueprint to finished feature. His approach goes beyond digging and stacking rocks—he sees the job as an art form. Each build is a blank canvas, and Jimmy brings it to life with his team by sculpting land and water into something truly special.

What’s more, Jimmy is known around here not just for his skill, but for his creativity and level head when things get challenging. Whether it’s a custom koi pond tucked into a tight backyard or a sweeping natural stream across a commercial property, he always figures it out. If your pond’s leaking, broken, or needs a filter swap—Jimmy’s the guy.

One of his favorite projects to date? A collaboration in Brick with Jim O’Donnell, where the design was a perfect balance between the landscaping and construction team. It’s one that still gets mentioned when folks flip through the portfolio.

But Jimmy’s not just about the work. He’s been through the highs and the lows with this team. His most unforgettable moment at FFP was the fire that devastated the Green Brook building back in 2019. He saw the smoke from his house—and then got the call from Brian. “That night was awful,” he says, “but what happened after is what I’ll always remember.” Jimmy worked side-by-side with the entire crew, pouring everything into rebuilding and helping FFP bounce back. That season became a symbol of resilience, proving just how strong this team really is.

When he's not managing jobsites, you'll find Jimmy spending time with his wife and family. In the summer, he likes to wind down next to his own pond, beer in hand. Lately, he’s picked up a new weekend hobby—golf. You’ll probably catch him out on the green with Tim when they’re not laying liner or lifting boulders.
