Anubias minima, also known as Anubias barteri var. glabra, is a versatile and hardy aquatic plant native to West Africa, ranging from Guinea to Gabon. This variety is commonly found in dense populations along riverbanks and on rocks in forest rivulets, often growing alongside species like Bolbitis heudelotii and Crinum natans.
Anubias minima is a smaller variant of the Anubias barteri species, characterized by its oval to lanceolate leaves. It can be challenging to distinguish from other Anubias barteri forms, such as A. barteri var. angustifolia, which features similarly elongated leaves. Anubias minima is a popular choice in the aquascaping hobby because of its compact size and robust nature.
This plant is easy to care for and adaptable to various aquarium setups. It can be attached to rocks or driftwood as an epiphyte, placed between rocks, or planted in the substrate. When planting, it is crucial to keep the rhizome uncovered to prevent rot. Anubias minima's low maintenance and resilience make it an excellent addition to any aquarium, providing both beauty and durability.
