A Design Inspired by Japan
The inspiration for this unique pond stems from the traditional octagonal koi ponds seen in Japanese museums. While in Japan, Brian Fitzsimmons, CEO and Owner of FFP, came up with the hexagaon design for the focal point of the New Hope Store’s backyard. Our design team gave it a modern twist with a hexagon shape and ornamental features, creating a pond that blends timeless inspiration with contemporary elegance. Constructed from durable fiberglass, the pond’s sides were meticulously finished with a colored gel coat for a sleek, polished appearance. A manufactured veneer surrounds the structure, complementing the patio design while offering durability and aesthetic appeal.
A Showcase for Koi Enthusiasts
This formal pond is designed for koi enthusiasts who seek the highest level of functionality and beauty. It features advanced filtration systems and a variety of features to maintain ideal water quality for its inhabitants. The pond currently houses several koi, but its design can accommodate significantly more, ensuring it remains vibrant and lively year-round.
State-of-the-Art Filtration and Lighting
Our team equipped the pond with cutting-edge filtration systems to support high fish loads and frequent feedings. The system includes:
- Five Bottom Drains for efficient waste removal.
- No-Niche Skimmers to collect leaf debris and maintain pristine water conditions.
- Biological Filtration Units such as a moving bed filter and a Baki shower, ensuring the water is rich in beneficial bacteria.
- Mechanical Filtration with a drum filter that cleans down to approximately 100 microns.
- Polishing Filtration with a K1 filter to remove fine particles for crystal-clear water.
- UV Clarification with dual 110-watt units to eliminate green water and maintain clarity.
