Vallisneria asiatica is one of the easiest aquatic plants to care for, making it a popular choice for both beginners and experienced aquarists. Its distinctive twisted, corkscrew-like leaves add a dynamic visual element to any aquarium, and it thrives in a wide range of water conditions. Though it prefers cooler water, this versatile plant can adapt to tropical tanks with proper care, such as reducing light intensity in warmer setups to prevent leggy growth and weak leaves.

Regular maintenance is key to keeping Vallisneria asiatica healthy. Contrary to popular belief, it can be pruned using sharp scissors to trim back overgrown or damaged leaves without harming the plant. Removing dying leaves at the base encourages fresh growth and prevents overcrowding in the tank. With its tall, spiraling leaves that can reach up to 24 inches in height, Vallisneria is best placed in the background or along the sides, providing shelter for fish and enhancing the aquarium’s overall aesthetic.

This species is also known for its ease of propagation, making it ideal for aquarists of all skill levels. It spreads through runners that form new plantlets, which can be separated and transplanted once they establish a strong root system. For optimal growth, ensure the crown of the plant remains above the substrate, and consider adding root tablets or using nutrient-rich substrates, as Vallisneria is a heavy root feeder.

• For Motor Freight (LTL) Shipments, oversized or heavy items unsuitable for traditional parcel delivery will be dispatched through a motor freight carrier, as indicated on the product page. Once the carrier receives your order, they will reach out to arrange a delivery time. An individual aged 18 or older must be present to sign for the delivery.
• You may return or exchange an unused or unopened item for a refund (excluding shipping and handling charges) within 30 days of purchase. Following 30 days, the item may be returned in exchange for a store credit. Used chemicals and fish food are not returnable. In addition, all sales on Japanese Koi are final and non-refundable.
