One of the oldest koi farms, Miyatora Koi Farm, is associated with over 100 years of history in Kawaguchi, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. Founded by Shichizo Miya during the last quarter of the 19th century, the farm has changed hands through family generations. It is currently operated by Katsunori Miya and his son, Takumi.

While specializing in a broad range of varieties, Miyatora is particularly famous for its Gosanke (Kohaku, Sanke, and Showa) and for Ginrin, Doitsu, Kujaku, Shusui, and Beni Kikokuryu. The Miyatora farm also features awards such as the 75 BU Sakura Prize at the 2017 Japan Koi Show and the 75 BU Botan Prize for Shusui in 2019.

With approximately 40 mud ponds spanning 100,000 square meters, Miyatora Koi Farm has the capacity to produce up to 100,000 koi annually.
