Phyllanthus fluitans, commonly known as Red Root Floaters, is a tropical floating plant originating from the American tropics. Unlike similar floating ferns like Salvinia, Red Root Floaters have alternate leaves with a smooth texture and a heart-shaped base that conceals the stem. One of its most distinctive features is the red roots that hang from the thin submerged stem, giving the plant its common name. Under favorable conditions, the plant produces tiny white flowers in the leaf axils, and the leaves turn red under intense light, enhancing its aesthetic appeal in aquariums.

This floating plant thrives in aquariums with ample macro- and micronutrients, making it ideal for new tank setups or those struggling with algae issues. Red Root Floaters provide shade and help with nutrient uptake, contributing to better water quality and reducing algae growth. Like many floating plants, they can also be cultivated emersed, needing a nutrient-rich and moist substrate to grow successfully outside of water.

Propagation is incredibly easy, as Phyllanthus fluitans quickly branches and covers the aquarium's surface. Its rapid growth makes it an excellent candidate for natural filtration or even as a fertilizer for terrestrial plants. Removed floaters can be repurposed as compost or used to nourish house plants and garden beds, offering a sustainable way to manage its fast growth.

• For Motor Freight (LTL) Shipments, oversized or heavy items unsuitable for traditional parcel delivery will be dispatched through a motor freight carrier, as indicated on the product page. Once the carrier receives your order, they will reach out to arrange a delivery time. An individual aged 18 or older must be present to sign for the delivery.
• You may return or exchange an unused or unopened item for a refund (excluding shipping and handling charges) within 30 days of purchase. Following 30 days, the item may be returned in exchange for a store credit. Used chemicals and fish food are not returnable. In addition, all sales on Japanese Koi are final and non-refundable.
