Salvinia minima, commonly referred to as Water Spangles, are small floating ferns native to the American tropics, now considered an invasive aquatic weed in parts of the southern U.S. Like other Salvinia species, it forms floating mats on the surface of still or slow-moving waters. The floating leaves of S. minima are round to broad-oval with a heart-shaped base, growing to about 0.4 to 0.6 inches in length. Under unfavorable conditions, the leaves may remain smaller and develop a pale or yellow color. The plant’s stems can reach up to 4 inches before breaking and forming new plants, and the leaf surface is covered with tiny hairs resembling a cat’s tongue.

Salvinia minima is an undemanding floating plant that thrives in aquariums with moderate light. Given the right conditions, such as nutrient-rich water and low current, it can grow rapidly and will need to be trimmed back regularly to prevent it from covering the entire water surface. S. minima is ideal for cycling new aquariums and controlling algae by providing shade and nutrient absorption.

To manage its fast growth, regularly remove excess plants, which can be recycled as a natural fertilizer for houseplants, garden plants, or added to compost. Salvinia minima offers both functional benefits and an attractive appearance for aquascaping.

• For Motor Freight (LTL) Shipments, oversized or heavy items unsuitable for traditional parcel delivery will be dispatched through a motor freight carrier, as indicated on the product page. Once the carrier receives your order, they will reach out to arrange a delivery time. An individual aged 18 or older must be present to sign for the delivery.
• You may return or exchange an unused or unopened item for a refund (excluding shipping and handling charges) within 30 days of purchase. Following 30 days, the item may be returned in exchange for a store credit. Used chemicals and fish food are not returnable. In addition, all sales on Japanese Koi are final and non-refundable.
