Mike joined Fitz’s Fish Ponds in the spring of 2017 after 21 years at Efinger’s Sporting Goods. At the time, FFP was still in its early stages, and Mike quickly became a jack-of-all-trades—helping build ponds, caring for fish, supporting retail, and shipping orders out of the Fairfield store. When space ran out, he was loading product out of trailers in the parking lot.

Once the farm location opened, the shipping operation leveled up, and Mike stepped into the logistics manager role he’s held ever since. These days, Mike coordinates all shipping and receiving for both internal product and Evolution Aqua orders. He works closely with Don and the retail team to make sure stores stay stocked with both koi and supplies. He also supports construction by syncing with Tim and Jimmy to make sure each job has exactly what it needs on time. Whether it’s moving freight, restocking stores, or helping organize the growing warehouse space upstairs in the barn, Mike keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes.

Around the farm, he’s affectionately known as the "in-house chef." After Fitz got a smoker, Mike got hooked on trying new recipes—steaks, pulled pork, spiral ham, you name it. He often cooks big meals for the team after events like Koi Fest or major fish shipments. There’s something about sharing a good meal that brings the crew together, and Mike’s happy to be the one behind the grill. He’s even taken that passion on the road, helping a friend at James on Main in Hackettstown serve wood-fired food at festivals.

Outside of work, Mike’s always hunting for something—whether it’s the perfect recipe, a great spot to fish, or colonial-era coins with his metal detector. He’s fascinated by history, especially the stories tied to the objects he finds across New Jersey. And just like with his work at FFP, he’s all about learning, researching, and helping people connect the dots. Mike’s been part of nearly every chapter of FFP’s growth, and we’re proud to have him leading the charge behind the scenes and at the smoker.
