Ludwigia natans 'Super Red'

Ludwigia natans 'Super Red' is a fast-growing stem plant known for reaching vivid red coloration more easily than most red species. Its compact size makes it a strong choice for adding a bold color accent to nano tanks as well as the midground or background of larger aquascapes.

Plant Profile

• Placement: midground, background, red accent, nano tanks
• Care level: easy
• Light: medium to high
• CO2: low
• Growth form: stem
• Growth rate: fast
• Height: 4 to 12 inches
• Width: 1 to 1.5 inches
• Temperature: 64 to 82 F

Growth and Color

Bright light and CO2 supplementation bring out the deepest red, though the plant holds strong color without them. It stays smaller than the popular Ludwigia repens, which makes it easier to fit into tight layouts.

Trimming and Propagation

'Super Red' sends out side shoots readily, and regular trimming encourages a denser, bushier stand. Cut tops root quickly when replanted, so a single purchase can fill out a group over time.
